Billy: Is today my birthday?
Me: No, we have to celebrate America’s birthday and then it will be your birthday.
Billy: What!? You said my birthday was next!
We celebrated the 4th of July like any other day on vacation. Up too early. Coffee. Beach. Lunch. Aquarium. Dinner. Fireworks.
This afternoon, we went back to the Pine Knolls Shore Aquarium for a Behind the Scenes Tour. Well, most of us did. Billy was too young so he and I just explored the front of the house on our own. I heard the tour was great, though. What I really enjoy about that aquarium is that it is well marked. If there is a fish placard on the wall next to a display, that fish is in the display. Also, 3 pm on the 4th of July is the right time to go. It was so non-aggravating that we went through the store at the end.

Later this evening, we lit sparklers and low-impact fireworks. Happy Birthday, America!
